“Since I was a child, my sister was the science girl and I was the arty one. I got dizzy and blanked out when discussions of science and math would begin. I took biology twice in college and the second time I wrote a long letter to the professor at the end of my final exam, explaining that this was the sum total of my knowledge and I promised never to enter the sciences. For the next forty years, I kept my promise……….”

Born and raised in New York City, Enid Blechman is an accomplished artist and former Art Director with a distinguished academic background and over two decades of professional experience. She holds multiple degrees, including B.F.A. with honors from Ohio State University and two M.F.A. degrees from SUNY Albany and the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), where she graduated summa cum laude.

Early in her career, she served as the Art Director for Barnes and Noble Bookstores in NYC, earning awards for her innovative advertising campaigns. Transitioning from corporate art direction back to studio practice, she has cultivated a recognized presence in the contemporary art world. Her work has been showcased in solo exhibitions at the SCAD Museum and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She is a recipient of a NY Foundation for the Arts award and has been featured in New American Painting (Artists of the South), in addition to being named one of the top ten visual artists in Palm Beach County. She has attended residencies in Wyoming, Vermont, Beijing and Key West.

Known for tackling substantive issues in her art—such as the toxic algae crisis affecting the Florida Everglades—she has completed significant large scale public commissions, including the monumental "Slices of the Sea" installation for the Baptist/MD Anderson Cancer Center (2018), and most recently (2024-25), for new health buildings at the University of Miami. She now lives and works on the Florida coast with her rescue dog, Uncle Oscar.
